The 5-year-old daughter of contemporary Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.

The girl, Maria, was hit in a driveway on the family residence Wednesday afternoon by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by her teenage brother, said Laura McPherson, a spokesman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

McPherson said no charges are expected.

That is so very tragic and sad! I cannot imagine the grief. I'll say a prayer for them.

My heart is broken for this precious family. I just watched the video of Steven washing dishes with little Maria. So cute.

The saddest thing of all is that her teenage brother is the one who ran over her. Oh, my word. Life will NEVER be the same. That poor young man will carry this heartbreak to his grave.

Thanks for putting this up on your blog, Katybug.

This was such a difficult post to make. After all, what on earth can you say to something like this? It's one of those things you read about and think, good grief, Lord, what can You possibly be thinking? Even though I know He is sovereign over everything,
trustworthy, and has a plan for everything...what's up with this one? I too ache for the family, and most especially for the teenage brother.
